Well, its been a year! I still feel like I just left New York. I will probably be 50 and still saying, "I feel like I just left New York". It stays with you like no other place does. I lived in Washington state for 17 years, Utah accumulatively for 6 years and New York for 2. And New York still feels like home.
BUT this is not another rant about how fabulous New York is, although... it is fabulous. :) I wanted to write a little post about how thankful I am for the silver lining in moving back to Utah. Sometimes you just have to focus on it. And because I forgot how amazing it is to have...
A washer and dryer IN my house! No more walking to drop it off around the corner in the snow.
Carpet. It's funny how much I missed it. Toes on carpet is kind of glorious.
A garbage disposal! They are illegal in New York and therefore trash becomes stinky much faster.
A dish washer. I may have missed this the most! Cooking a big meal is a triumph without a dish washer.
Movies for under $13. That's right, a movie is $13.
A bathroom big enough to fit two people.
A kitchen big enough to fit two people.
Although I would NOT want a car in the city, it sure is fun to drive again.
Shoes that don't get ruined. The New York streets tear up heels like nobody's business. My shoe repair man became a good friend. I visited him often.
All that being said, it's well known I still think the good in New York outweighs the bad. And a lot of these are avoided by being rich out there. But I am thankful for these luxuries!
Thank you for an amazing year Utah :)
Xoxo
