I Am The Target Audience

Every time I watch the Sex and the City movie, the first one, I think MAYBE Big will get out of the car. That maybe he won't wait until the end of the movie to realize he wants to marry Carrie. But then I guess I wouldn't have two hours of laughter if the movie ended in the first twenty minutes.

I do the same thing with every one of my favorite movies. I find myself hoping Hubble won't leave Katie after the baby is born. But then we wouldn't have Barbara Streisand's famous line at the end of The Way We Were... "Your girl is lovely Hubble"

Romeo and Juliet sometimes gets turned off before they both die. And I imagine Leonardo Dicaprio lives a long life with Claire Danes.

Oh and Audrey Hepburn stays in Rome, and Rachel and Ross never go on a break :)

I have always been a romantic.

A few nights ago Preston and I were watching TV. I don't remember the ad that came on but it caused me to laugh uncontrollably, causing Preston to tell me "You are the target audience of every marketing firm." And it may be true. I love pretty packaging and my favorite hobby is escaping in the pages of a book. It's nice when things come tied in a pretty little bow.

My life is fantastic, but no one can have all bows. Lately I have been especially thankful for family and friends. New careers, new places and new adventures can be scary. Scary in a good way, but still scary.   And the support of my husband and our families and our fantastic friends has been amazing. I miss New York and I miss Seattle and I love our friends here. I'm not sure how I scored 3 cities of support systems.

We've become grown ups who's choices matter. And a lot of our own happy endings and beginnings come from those choices. Somehow I made at least a few good ones but mostly I think I am very lucky.

Not every one's package will look the same (insert obvious joke here) and many of our beginnings have nothing to do with love like my movies. But I think everyone can have a big bow on top.

Family Baby Shower

So one of the advantages of us living in Utah is that we have family so close to us. It's nice to be here for those big events in the lives of family members. This past week was my sister in law Elizabeth's baby shower. My other sister in law Robin gives Martha a run for her money when it comes to decorating and party planning. So I'm using this post to pimp her skills out and say you MUST hire her for your next event. Follow her at The Delightful Party! I'll let the photos do the talking...
